Day 6
Day 6 was crazy. We left Utrecht and bought tickets to the ICE (international train). We were supposed to get on a train to Venlo, but we missed it and the next one was in an hour. We ended up going to Arhnem Centraal, which was the wrong place to be. So we had to backtrack and we missed the subsequent train to Venlo. This added ~2 hours to our adventure lol. But one of my friends was violently ill and expunged himself in the restroom, so I’m glad we weren’t on the long train. Serendipity! Venlo to Dusseldorf to Dortmund.
We finally ended up in Venlo, where we had to transfer to another train that would take us across the border to Dusseldorf. Then we waited at the station where people don’t speak much English and I bought some cool “Davidoff” cigarettes. Ryan got some awesome fries in Dusseldorf and we shared them. It was absolute fire. We threw them out, hopped on the train to Dortmund and arrived around 8:51 PM.

I used Booking.com (sponsor me! Lmao) to get our hotel room and it was actually really crazy. I thought we were renting a hotel “apartment” style and instead we are renting an apartment from some dude. I guess hotels work like that over here (/shrug)? The overall feeling of the place was incredibly suspect because we walked to the office, got our keys and then had to walk like 750m to the actual apartment building which is located in the sketchiest back alley I’ve ever seen. It feels like we’re in some slum but I think it’s just a combination of the weather plus the architecture plus all the graffiti on the walls here lol. Oh and the smashed front door doesn’t help…

Day 7 (part 1)
Tonight we’re going to a Barussia Dortmund football game! I’m looking forward to it very much. We’ll only be here tonight. Tomorrow we’re leaving for Cologne for another few nights and heading back to Amsterdam. We went to this incredible brunch place today, grabbed some local beers and the plan is to visit a few museums before the football game tonight. Should be fun!
