Bangkok – Days 4-6

Bangkok is out of control

My friend met someone from Tinder and we went to this place called Khaosan Road, which by its reputation is utterly insane. The street is filled with ladies of the night, the bars are insanely loud and the drinks are horrendously overpriced. But it was a ton of fun! We ended up finding a place with cheap enough drinks and got a big beer tower and hung out having to shout into each others’ ears. I did some dancing, some mackin’ and just overall enjoyed the night. We left there around 6 AM-ish and got back to the hotel and fell asleep for like 10 hours lol. MJ stayed the night and then she went home in the morning. She told me and my friend we should check out The Grand Palace and that’s where I got scammed in an elaborate tuk tuk scheme (I don’t wanna talk about it, but now I own 3 very expensive, custom tailored and cheaply made suits lol). Getting scammed is a rite of passage anyway. I don’t trust anyone anymore lmao.

She did also tell us to check out some fireworks they put on every weekend over the river and it was there I met my new friend Anshul. He’s a really cool guy. He’s a software developer from LA who started living in Thailand a few years ago and we immediately started talking about AI, coding, web dev, etc. He said it was really nice meeting someone he can actually talk to who’s down to earth and I told him the same. So we’ve been keeping in touch since and we’ve gone to a few places. Anyway, he, Steve and I ended up back on Khaosan Road… lol let’s just say that place is a party street every night of the week no matter what. It’s absolute wild over there.

Sorry I don’t have pics of anything, there’s a ton of filtering I need to do when I get home and I have like no time because Steve is constantly on my case to go out. I do kind of regret not just solo traveling so I could take my time with my blog, but I also really enjoy the company… it’s a double edged sword for sure. That said, Anshul works “2nd shift” essentially because it aligns with his lifestyle so I am probably going to end up staying out super late (until first light) at dance clubs and whatnot.

I do have pics of some of the more popular spots, but I tried not to take any pictures of the buddha’s due to Thailand regulations of taking anything that represents a buddha out of the country. I am very very concerned with SEA laws because the fines are huge, the jails are not the best and the punishments are somewhat draconic.

I will say, I’m having a ton of fun here. I do kinda miss my family and friends back home. I also miss Japan. I really love it there, more than Thailand, but Steve is kinda pressuring me to stay. I am leaving on the 13th or 14th and might spend a few more days in Japan. I wanna see the Osaka Christmas Market. It’s hard for me to find the time to upload photos so follow my instagram.

Oh, I also had to get a Thai sim lol so now I can make international calls but it’s kinda expensive. <3
