Nara, Osaka, Thailand – Day 13+ 14

Yesterday marked my last night in Japan. What an awesome place. Nara is beautiful and the deer were really cute. Some of them are jerks lol, but I think that’s bound to happen with any wild animal. Gina, Steve and I spent the entire day and walked all around Nara park. All the way up to this massive hill in the back of the park. It was near Todaifukuji where we got some good sunset photos.

While we were exploring the park, we met someone cool in a tea house on the side of the park. She was from California, near Daly City and traveling with her mother sightseeing in Nara. She is a software developer, so we had a lot to talk about, but we mostly talked about Japan, because software talk can happen any time lol. She was really sweet and it was nice meeting her!

Nara

After sending off our friend Gina in the morning, Steve and I decided to hang around Nara until 7PM. There was this takoyaki place I wanted to try and I’m SO glad we did. It was a 4.8 Google reviews and I have no idea why it’s not a 5, the food is phenomenal, the price is right and the people there are so friendly. As we were leaving there was a tourist who had never tried it before and I think we steered him right.

We eventually got a train to Osaka and kinda tore up the night. Made many one night friends, and laughed a lot with them in the streets of the city. It was kinda hood rat behavior but like, whatever, we were all having a blast. I think we went to bed around like 4AM, woke up at 6AM, bought tickets to Thailand and rushed out the door. I’ve heard it’s like paradise and I’ve always wanted to check it out. I am glad to have a friend here though. Traveling solo is fine but you need someone to watch your back, you know? Especially when you’re out until 4AM raising hell.

Thailand

I’m really excited for Thailand, I don’t know much about it but it seems absolutely stunning. I am really excited to see some of these places. The guy I sat next to on the plane was pretty cool. Another software developer lol, but he and I spoke at length about a number of topics. He works a couple days a week and travels around with a group of bohemians. It’s apparently a private club and you gotta be invited, but I’m gonna ask him about it more later. He’s someone definitely worth keeping in touch with though. He and I chatted about AI for a while, and he’s very knowledgeable about it. He lives in Thailand, I think with his girlfriend, but that wasn’t made fully clear. This is such a long flight though, I can’t wait to land. 6 hours is kind of a long time. Anyway, I’m gonna try to get some more sleep because I’ve been burning the candle at both ends for the past few days. I’ll update you with some pictures soon!
