Noon Isn’t Even Late

Last DAY in Kyoto…

The day starts at noon. I wake up to a new person moving into my dorm room and I’m still sleeping in the top bunk. I get up and it startles them quite a bit. They leave, I get my clothes together to shower and they come back in while I’m in my boxers. I’m trying to get my stuff together and I slip out the door in my boxers, with a change of clothes and no towel. So I ended up using my boxers as my towel while I air dried as much as possible. Jesus.

Then I get downstairs and meet some people in the lounge. Kai, Tommy and Avery. They’re from Maryland and pretty chill. So I’m chatting with them a bit, and they’re just here for a few more days. Kai speaks some Japanese, pretty well in fact, and so we talk about Japanese culture a bit. They went to some museum and said it was “just okay”. I tell them my plans for the night and they’re not super interested so we kinda part ways for now.

Last NIGHT in Kyoto

So, for my last night in Kyoto, I met up with some girl from Discord and we had Yakiniku, which is essentially you order a bunch of meat and cook it yourself on this hot grill. I convinced her to try beef and pork tongue. Tongue meat is incredibly delicious by the way. Then I took her to that bar to shoot airsoft guns and she said it was really fun. After that, she said she was tired so we parted ways around 9:30pm. After that, I went back to that bar I’ve been going to. It’s been great to be honest. Speaking with the locals and enjoying the night life.

You might be thinking ok wtf does Elden Ring have to do with meeting people in Japan… A LOT IN FACT. I met an off-duty cop there and he and I talked about video games a ton. We hit it off pretty well and started talking about Elden Ring, Sekiro, all the souls games. Then we talked about Gran Turismo and the bartender looooves cars and car games so we talked about that for a while. The bartender (Matti) started talking about Rally driving and showed us some insane footage from Rally Japan. After a while I told him I was going to head out so I could leave for Osaka in the morning and he told me to check out this bar called Bar Fader. He said his friend is a bartender there and it’s awesome. I said “absolutely!” Then he said, “oh wait, you met the guy, he’s the one who DJ’d here the other day.” So I was like sick, I’ll tell him you sent me ๐Ÿ™‚
The DJ’s name is DJใ‚ดใƒŸ่™ซ (Trash Bug) Which I thought was great.

Nights End

I leave at 11:45, after the last bus, and get in at ~12:45 because I had to find a bathroom. I disturb my bunkmates one last time, and fall sleep in my clothes because I didn’t wanna make it any worse than it was already.

It’s kind of a short post but like… I’m a busy guy lol.
